House2Home Design Sprint
House2Home Design Sprint
2024
Intro
House2Home is a new startup whose goal is to make it easier for people to decorate their new homes and apartments on a budget. I was tasked with setting a baseline for their minimum viable product (MVP) by conducting a Google Ventures Design Sprint. This five-day process included defining the problem, generating possible solutions, building a prototype of the top solution, and testing it with customers.
The Challenge
Focus on helping people who have recently moved find multiple items to decorate their new apartment.
The Goal
An e-commerce website that guides users through the process of defining their personal interior design style, choosing between bundles, “Starter Kits”, of items, and then trying the items out before purchasing. The “trying out” process involves users uploading images of their home and placing images of the individual items from the starter kits on the photos of their space to see how everything works together.
My Role
Solo UI/UX Designer & Researcher, Prototyper, and Usability Tester
Day 1 - Map
Problem Constraints
design for larger screens, laptop/desktop
focus on users who want a “starter kit” for a new home
User considerations gained from user interviews and personas
budget constraints
not knowing if a bunch of separately purchased items will go well with each other
feeling overwhelmed by a “blank slate”
feeling overwhelmed by choices
not know if purchased items will look good with things they already own
can picture what kind of look they want but don’t know how to execute it
don’t want to put in the time and energy to search for decorations
working within a budget without creating a space that looks cheap
